Ala Moana is a beach close by to Waikiki, but it has a different feel to it that the packed Waikiki beaches. It has views of the city skyline as well as Diamond Head. Although still in the city, this beach attracts more locals and is a great place to watch the sunset. ​ Since there is a large stretch of reef on the outside of the beach, it protects the inside waters which remain calm. This makes it an ideal place for swimming as there are not big breakers. For those that arenʻt very comfortable in the water, this is a great place to get wet while being in the ocean. On the town side of the beach, there is Ala Moana Beach Park that offers lots of green space, palm trees, views of the harbor and Diamond Head.
