Sunset Beach is located on the North Shore of Oahu. The North Shore is also known as the "7 mile miracle" as it boasts some of the best surfing around the world in the winter months. This beach is both a visitor and local spot. During the summer months the water is typically calm enough to snorkel and swim in. In the winter months it is a great place to watch surfers or if you dare to brave the waters, you can catch some waves yourself. ​ When the swell hits in the the winter, there are many different surf competitions that are held at Sunset Beach. If you have never experienced the excitement of a professional surf competition, it is definitely worthwhile. Be prepared to run into many famous athletes and people at this beach. Be aware that parking can be limited during these competitions.
