This trail serves as an extension of the State's Hau'ula Loop Trail, seamlessly linking Hau'ula and Waipilopilo ridges to form a manageable loop. Expect some overgrowth, particularly of Uluhe vegetation, along the path, so come prepared with long sleeves and pants. Watch out for steep sections, blow downs, and narrow areas that demand your attention to avoid accidental missteps off the ridge.
The ridge offers sweeping vistas, stretching from Kahuku to Laie and Kaa'awa, with occasional views of Kaipapau Gulch showcasing high waterfalls during rainy spells.
Embark on a rewarding journey towards the KSRT, as the trail winds past Hauula Loop and ascends Hauula Ridge, affording scenic views of Kaipapau Gulch. Initially dense with Kukui, Paperbark, and Eucalyptus trees, the landscape transitions to Koa trees before revealing a picturesque scene speckled with Ohia and Uluhe undergrowth. The path steadily ascends, offering breathtaking panoramas throughout. Upon reaching the ridge's end, a brief saddle connects it to Waipilopilo ridge, with a steep yet manageable section leading to the summit of Waipilopilo.
