During the peak of winter on the North Shore of Oahu, when the surf is at its prime, Chun's Reef emerges as a favorable spot, particularly for intermediate surfers seeking a break from the more extreme spots. Situated between Jocko's and Waimea Bay, Chun's offers both left and right breaks, stretching across a bend of often shallow and sharp reef.

The left break tends to be more forgiving, with a gentle shoulder, as it spills into a relatively deeper section of water. On the other hand, the right break can be faster yet shorter, with shallower sections and turbulent currents on the inside. While the lineup at Chun's may not be as intense as spots like Rockies, expect to find plenty of skilled locals out catching waves and showcasing their skills.
