V-Land, affectionately named after veteran California surfer/shaper Dale Velzy, offers a surfing experience reminiscent of a miniature Sunset Beach, nestled in the expansive bay just beyond Backyards. Amidst the tumultuous waters of the bay, it can sometimes be challenging to discern the break. V-Land finds itself in the shadow of Phantom Reef, a legendary big-wave spot located over half a mile out to sea. Phantom Reef channels swell energy into the bay, where it converges onto V-Land's shallow, well-defined lava ledge. On favorable days, V-Land transforms into a playground of bowling barrels and rippable sections, serving as an ideal training ground for the North Shore's most promising groms, who eagerly capitalize on the wave's offerings.
