Experience the beauty of Kailua from a unique perspective aboard a Waʻa Peʻa, a traditional Hawaiian sailing canoe used by ancient navigators. Join our knowledgeable watermen as they share the rich history and cultural significance of these canoes and Kailua itself to the Hawaiian and Polynesian peoples. Embark on a journey to offshore islets, immersing yourself in a Hawaiian adventure like no other.
As you glide through the sparkling coral reefs of Kailua, keep an eye out for sea turtles and native fish species. Take in the panoramic views of the Ko’olau mountain range while our watermen regale you with stories of the Ahupua’a (land divisions) of Kailua and the Ka Iwi coastline. Learn about the indigenous seabirds, such as the ‘Iwa (Great Frigate) and ‘Ua‘u kani (Wedge-tail Shearwater), that inhabit the sanctuary island.
